Man Nabbed For Boxcutter Attack On Long Island: Police

A Long Island man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked a 25-year-old with a boxcutter, slashing and injuring him, police said.

Gender Membreno-Pineda, age 27 of Roosevelt, was arrested after police said he attacked another man outside of a Uniondale bar with a boxcutter.

The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Uniondale, according to Nassau County Police.

Just after 4 a.m. that day, 27-year-old Roosevelt resident Gender Membreno-Pineda was outside of the Frontera Bar located at 963 Nassau Road when police said he got into a fight with a 25-year-old man.

The fight turned from verbal to physical when Membreno-Pineda allegedly pulled out a boxcutter and swung at his victim, slashing him in his chest and arm.

Police said the victim is in stable condition at a local hospital.

He was arrested at the scene and is charged with:

  • Assault;
  • Criminal possession of a weapon; and
  • Criminal contempt.

Membreno-Pineda pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and is due in court on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
